Last weekend I attended my first ever Bloggers at Midlife Conference (#BAMC16) in the beautiful JW Marriott resort in Las Vegas. Arriving Friday morning to a room full of strangers, I left Sunday morning with new friendships, and enthusiasm for my blog, and it’s next steps. As a new blogger I was rather apprehensive about attending, arriving with no business cards and a nervous smile. I soon realized that even though my blog is not currently my “day job”, cards with my blog name and social URLs would have been extremely useful. Next year I will bring them (yes I plan on attending BAM Conference 2017!).
Life gets complicated. That’s a fact! From buying groceries, paying bills, to hectic schedules and taking care of our families, we often strive to be perfect, and in doing so we risk burning ourselves out with worry and stress. Does life really have to be so crazy?
Recently I ran into an old friend who I hadn’t seen in a long while, and I had always had the impression that her world was perfect. She was one of those women who always looks “well put together” with great clothes and makeup. Her social media showed an endless array of perfect photos at exotic locations and expensive restaurants. I ran into her at the supermarket on a last minute dash to buy flour, me with no make up, wrinkles and a fake smile wishing I had taken the time to comb my hair.
