Fifty is just around the corner and personally I have found that in recent years I have become far too serious about life and responsibilities. I am not for one second saying that we should all head for the hills and party like there is no tomorrow. Really, I am not!

What I do suggest is that it is okay to step back and have FUN! Remember that? A trip to La Jolla, CA reminded me that fun is good for any age. My husband recently had business in CA and my youngest son and I accompanied him. I had forgotten how much I love the beach.

I forgot my bikini NOT ready body and saw the beach how a youngster does. Jumping waves and swimming released a ton of stress, and unplugging from technology for several hours was bliss. Our family communicated, laughed and yes I screamed as the bigger waves came in. I finally got what living in the present moment is all about. There was a feeling of immense gratitude.

Back home I intend to take that feeling and use it every single day, however brief that may be on the more hectic days. Unplugging from technology will be key for destressing for me. A recent study claims that children look to their parents when learning about screen time. Their behaviour is learnt from mum and dad. At first I thought it was another “blame the parents for everything” study but I can see how that would make sense. A great incentive for me to unplug more and enjoy every moment. Here’s to seeing the world through a child’s eyes!

Being present is the best thing you can do for yourself. No matter what your age is

Agreed. Definitely a work in progress for me personally. Thanks! 🙂
